Wouldn’t it be cool to see what’s up with your campsite before you go? Find possible hidden gems to explore. Sure anyone would.
The coolest tool I use is Google® Earth. If you have never used this free resource from Google®, you will love it. Get a birds-eye view of the area you intend to camp. This tool offers satellite photos of pretty much anywhere on the planet.
With abilities to zoom in and get a high image of campsites, lakes, rivers, and view any area you choose. This makes mapping out your time and invaluable tool.
You can find places off the grid, trails for hikes, check the landscapes for remote areas with views that allow for real mapping, so you can hike in confidence. Keep in mind these are not real-time images, so always be sure to check with Park Rangers or Wildlife authorities regarding safety in certain areas.
If you get a green light to be in these areas, you will find Google® Earth* an invaluable tool to map out hikes, campsites and other excursions you can take.
Remember to always check with proper park rangers, local Game Warden, Forest Service for safety information regarding areas you intend to visit. Keep your family safe! If you can provide GPS coordinance to the family for emergencies. Also, make sure you’re aware of the wildlife you may encounter.
If you want to try Google Earth, just Google it!
